Highway 1 between Santa Barbara and Monterrey is known as one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the world. Our one campsite was perched on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Endless forest fires are always a threat at this time of year.
Our problem was more related to my fitness-freak cycling wife who headed off up the steep inclines and away only to get lost. Thanks to Keean’s common sense, we stumbled across her dehydrated body some 20 miles away! Of course, she could have gone on for another 20!
When we reached the famed “17-mile drive”, we were unprepared for the splendor of the houses and the endless superb golf courses. I had some flashbacks to my last visit here with Sensormatic in 1996…… one hole in particular on Pebble Beach seemed never to finish.
