Finally we hit the West Coast – in all its beauty. We decided to spend a couple of days around the coastal side of LA, visiting Venice Beach, Long Beach and the impressive marinas around there.
What excitement to meet up with my son Matthew! He is spending a year teaching in a tough school in LA, before finishing his studies in Bristol. An incredible learning experience for “Mr. Pople”. He has developed a great passion for acquiring real knowledge and understanding his environment. We all learnt a lot from sharing some time with him and had many laughs and special times together. We were all very sad when it came to farewells.
He traveled up the coast with us to Santa Barbara and the Los Padres forest just outside, where we spent a remote night and went on a wonderful 10 kms hike (yes, including the kids!).
