Inca Trail- Day 3

Sore limbs, but off we went again with 16 kms to cover today. Up in the high mountains, the cloud cover spoiled the grand views a bit. It rained hard in the afternoon and descending 900 meters on slippery rocks tested us all. We stopped off at a number of Inca archeological sites along the way, and learnt more about the incredible Inca culture and how it worked. Our trail was part of a network of 45000 kms of trails which the Incas used to communicate through runners, and control an empire that stretched all the way through Chile. A message would travel over 400 kms per day though relays. Tamryn was always too far ahead to photograph and the altitude finally affected some people's brain functions.
