Puno

We visited Lake Titikaka, the highest navigable lake on the planet (3800m). By boat we visited the famous Uros reed islands. About 40 islands float on the water, weekly they pack new reeds, it’s like walking on a waterbed. They live on fishing and tourist visits, and after all of that we went into their ‘houses’ and another ‘believe it or not’ they had TV ‘s in these homes!!! Run by solar, but they were a happy lot and life on the reeds seems to work for them! The Tequile island we later visited had great views but only beer with lunch! An introduction to high altitude climbing though (600 meters) left some of us breathless......Mel couldn't resist the shopping spree.
